Beach Narrative

The morning sun filtered through the blinds in my room and proceeded to wake me up. At first, I was bothered by the thought of waking up to face a new day. But then I remembered, the forecast is supposed to be sunny today. It's the perfect beach day. Suddenly excited, I leapt from my comfortable bed and thoughtfully picked out the bathing suit I wanted to wear. When dressed for the beach, I skipped to kitchen to assemble a nice picnic lunch for once I got to the sand. I packed sandwiches, chips and lemonade, making sure to pack ice packs to keep the food cold.

Finally ready to go to the beach, I hopped in my car and off I drove. As I made my way to the shoreline, I noticed the sun beaming down across the earth. The temperature gauge on dashboard displayed 106 degrees.

Ignoring the high temperatures, I proceeded to the beach and when I got there I spread out my towel and stretched into the warm sun. Three hours later, the sun still beating, I packed my things and headed for home. Once into my car, I noticed the painful glow radiating my from my skin. Upon further inspection, I discovered a nasty fire red sunburn flanking my entire body. The sight of the burn drew my attention to the searing pain I was experiencing. I sprinted into the kitchen to find the aloe vera gel.  Next time, the sunscreen will be the first thing on my mind when planning a beach day.
